I took an extreme close-up photograph of some leaves when I was in the mountains and I took much liberty with them and the gold flecks shine wonderfully, giving it a woody touch. This watercolor is on 300 lb cold pressed Arches paper and is available as a signed original.
***** As a watercolorist, I take my inspiration from the places I've lived and visited. Many of my paintings were done while living in Florida. Now that I'm living in North Carolina, I can hopefully expand my base to more of the native species of flowers and animals here. Clearly, it was first place. I don't know how another work that received the same number of votes as yours could place above yours.
