Well, this was a fun painting and I'm going to paint a matching one tomorrow because I think being they're tall and thin, they would look good hung together. This tree frog was based on another Larry painting and I just loved him. I had tried to paint him before with pure watercolors but, again, the Tombow pen worked really well in conjunction with watercolors to create a nice little painting that I really love with all the colors and his lovable expression. Yes, I like frogs.
***** As a watercolorist, I take my inspiration from the places I've lived and visited. Many of my paintings were done while living in Florida. Now that I'm living in North Carolina, I can hopefully expand my base to more of the native species of flowers and animals here. Ever since I was a small girl, I have always loved, nature - felt a part of the beauty and order which surrounds us everyday. The intricacies of colors in nature astounded me. I remember a starling that had been shot and I found alive back when I would nurse animals back to health. Starlings are known as ugly birds but as I looked at it in the sunlight, I was amazed with the myriad of colors reflected back at me. Blues, purples, reds all invaded my...

You snuck this one by me, I wondered what frog you were talking about, He is great.. Super blending on his colors, and a great expression, you need some lobster pot frames too. Your Sand hill cranes are going in one to match mine, such a great set. Keep it up. I think the pairing idea is great, I'll bet it will be a great set given the sizes,,,,

Oh my goodness, Lil, I love the color's you chose for this one! You know how I am with magenta's and lime greens...but, I'm scared to death of frogs and no one in my family knows why!! They are cute in paintings and pictures but don't ever let me cross paths with one...I tend to freeze and pee my pants! Probably too much information on that one! *votes/favs!! Laura

Thank you for the feature, James. I truly appreciate it. Hopefully, now that I'm caught up on comments again, I can start getting caught up in my groups. :)

Love the way you've made him peeking around the corner, Lil. Wonderful, deep colors. I used to have one of these little guys who lived in a planter by my sink when I lived in Florida. He used to come out and eat any bugs that might be about, and would stick to the spigot and sip the drops that were left in it.
Lil Taylor replied:
I know what you're saying about those and I have plenty at home. Imagine my surprise one day when I saw a WHITE one and then I realized that I guess there's a certain species that turns colors to match the background like the chameleons! Thank you, Kristin!!
