One of my best friends loved my watercolor, "Pink Drama" which was sold and she does so much for me, I decided to paint one which would fit in with her more "Florida decor". This is a light, beautiful painting but, of course, it's hanging in her home. The print is available though.
***** As a watercolorist, I take my inspiration from the places I've lived and visited. Many of my paintings were done while living in Florida. Now that I'm living in North Carolina, I can hopefully expand my base to more of the native species of flowers and animals here. Ever since I was a small girl, I have always loved, nature - felt a part of the beauty and order which surrounds us everyday. The intricacies of colors in nature astounded me. Thank you, Allen! When I first started watercolors, I gave it a try and quit within a month or two because it was just so different from the blending I could do with acrylics. After about a year, I decided it wouldn't defeat me so I made up my mind I could do it. However, I do not have a command and I'm not sure I ever will. Commanding watercolors is like herding cats but I do appreciate the compliment because if it at least appears I have command then I think I'm getting there! As for you, Marsha....I'm glad it helped some but I'm not sure I agree with you about picking acrylics OR watercolors. In fact, I might just decide to start experimenting using both in the same painting. I wanted to achieve a level in watercolors to where I felt like I had some control and could produce paintings I genuinely liked. Now, I think it might be fun to use both - added texture and added interest!!! You could have the loose feel of watercolors while maintaining some edginess of blending for control. Interesting idea!
