Description
This original watercolor is the second in my memories series. I got to know this gorgeous black stallion in the mountains and he's very statuesque and even intimidating but I hopped in the fence and took lots of pictures. This pose is something I wanted to do because he has the regal and arrogant appearance that could cause fear in the normal person. I couldn't figure out how to paint him but one night at 1 a.m., I sat straight up in bed and decided he needed to be with a little girl, the picture of innocence. It's all about contrasts. This was part of my "Black Horse" series based on this gorgeous horse that was in Bald Rock, NC at the Equine Center. Bald Rock is an equine subdivision on top of the mountain in NC. This signed original is on 300 lb Arches cold-pressed paper and is unframed. I don't know why I added the snow...it just felt right.

Beautifully painted horse, especially that it is a watercolour. Love the winterly mood.

Thanks so much. I love this one because of the whole story behind it and how I got up at 1 a.m. to draw it because I couldn't wait. :)
